My Philosophy

We often believe that physical health problems are isolated to a single area in the body (like your knee, hips, or shoulders). In reality, no part of your body is separated from the rest, your body acts as a whole, with many delicate and complex systems that are all interconnected.

There is a belief in our culture that exercise means going to the gym to do the same repetitive, boring, and unpleasant routine which work out the one part of your body you are focusing on that day.

My philosophy is a holistic one – the body must be treated as a whole rather than the individual parts that make it up, and healing motion is the embodiment of this philosophy. We strive to include every muscle group to offer a complete and effective movement treatment.

Movement should be diverse, therapeutic, and easy to incorporate into a fast-paced lifestyle.

About Elena

Elena Kanaki is a certified yoga instructor and Registered Massage Therapist currently practicing in Toronto, Ontario. Elena is highly passionate about the study of different movement techniques such as yoga, gymnastics, classical and folk dance, Feldenkrais and the Alexander technique. Her many years of research has allowed her to develop a unique program that incorporates the most beneficial aspects of both ancient and modern physical therapy techniques depending on the personal needs and body type of an individual. The Healing Motion system blends these physical therapy techniques with dance movements, yoga and massage therapy to provide an enjoyable, relaxing and therapeutic experience.
